I MADE ART FOR LUCIE FROM LOVE ISLAND!

You already know how much I love creating bespoke artwork and reading your personal stories and sentiments that you want reflected in your artwork. When I recently had the pleasure to create a commissioned piece for model, influencer and Cornwall celeb Lucie Donlan from Love Island, I knew for sure it was going to be a beautiful process.

MORVOREN

Although I personally didn't watch Love Island, I know that Cornwall-born & raised Lucie Donlan was a favourite contestant for many and I can see why! I met her at a mutual friends' Summer BBQ last year, where we connected about how much we both love animals and travelling. When we protested against the developments at Whipsiderry Cliffs near us a few months ago, she did not shy away from using her platform to organise people to petition, and she joined to physically protest on the beach with all of us in the community. She also is an ambassador for Prickles & Paws, a local hedgehog rescue organisation.

Lucie is also in the process of completely renovating a gorgeous traditional Cornish cottage with her partner, sharing each stage on her very 'down to earth' Instagram page; Lucie's Cornwall. She loves going to antique markets, car boot sales and charity shops so you'll find her excitedly sharing all of her wholesome thrifty finds with her followers.

Lucie shared this picture of her cosy attic lounge area with the artwork in situ.

Lucie has spent quite a bit of time on some of my favourite islands in Indonesia and she recently visited again with her Love Island fiancé Luke Abbott, which lead me to the idea of combining elements of both Cornwall and Nusa Lembongan in her personalised artwork.

This is how "Morvoren" came to be. Combining her love for surfing and being in the ocean, her roots here in Cornwall and lust for new adventures, I used this Cornish translation for "mermaid" as the title. Her story called for deep turquoise with pearlescent coral & neon pinks and light blues, with details in champagne, silver and hints of brass metallic that catch the light beautifully.

SEE THE PROCESS & INSPIRATION I created a video showing some of the creative process from start to finish, you can watch it here on Youtube or here on Instagram.
